Lauren and Ross
We could tell you how wonderful we are; but we thought we would pass over to Lauren, who held her Big Day with us in August 2014. Here’s her story.
LAUREN AND ROSS
Lauren and her husband, Ross, had looked at a number of venues in Perth for their August wedding. They were keen to find somewhere that would cater for the entire day as they had a number of guests coming from outwith the area and quite a few children, including their own.
“We wanted to make it as easy as possible for people; we had guests coming in from further afield and the thought of sending them all to a church, then onto a coach and then transporting them to a party venue was giving me a nightmare! Because of this, we decided quite early on that we wanted to find somewhere that could accommodate our ceremony, the meal and the party at night.
My father in law had seen an article about weddings at Perth Racecourse and I’ll be honest – at first I thought ‘Why would I go there?’. I had only ever been out on race days and I just couldn’t picture my big romantic day fitting into their venue. Still, my husband convinced me to give it a go and I called Tracey to arrange a viewing.
From the very first call I felt at ease – they wanted to make everything as easy as possible for you and were full of ideas. She invited me to come out and see it set up for a wedding and that was me – I loved it. It was perfect!”
After a proper tour of the property on a day that wasn’t dedicated to horses, jockeys and the great Scottish public, Lauren was able to picture clearly the opportunities a venue as flexible as ours could offer. And the biggest attraction was the 30 acres of racecourse that she could choose to spread across!
“We had 18 kids coming to our wedding and it was important to me that we catered for them as much as we did the adults. Tracey organised a bouncy castle for after the ceremony and thankfully, the weather was on our side and the kids went wild. Being able to let them race around the course, running off steam meant everyone was more relaxed. We chose to get married in the marquee because although it was sunny it was a bit windy; the great thing was we were able to make this call on the day. Every option was gorgeous so it was never going to be a sacrifice.”
Your ceremony, like Lauren’s can be taken anywhere on the racecourse, but we like to recommend the parade ring, the barn and centre course for outdoor ceremonies with a wet or windy weather contingency! Of course, you can by-pass the grounds entirely and choose to go marquee or Galileo from the outset.
“We had our ceremony at 2pm and afterwards we had our photographs taken in the parade ring while the guests enjoyed a drinks reception in the grounds. The setting was stunning; everyone commented on how beautiful the backdrop was and the summer colours in the trees against the dark sky made for perfect photographs. I loved that we were able to walk from ceremony to photographs and have our friends and family right there with us. It was wonderful.”
Lauren’s guests enjoyed a sit down meal in the Galileo and she tells us that the food was the hit of the night!
“We had heard their corporate days served up good food but you’re always nervous when dishing up to banquet sized numbers. I have never had food that good at any wedding before or since. Whenever we chat to a guest about the day they always compliment our menu choice and the standard of the food and service. And no wonder! The service was top-class. Everything was smooth, on time and stress-free.
It felt efficient and organised – I’ve been to weddings and watched the bride grow increasingly anxious sometimes actually ending up having to sort things out, but for me, I didn’t worry once. It was all brilliant.”
Lauren and Ross had booked the Summer Package which included £800 for a band. This was organised, at their request, by us and again it proved to be a smash hit!
“The package was great. No hidden costs, no working it all out, no having to make a hundred phone calls. I dealt with Tracey and Katie and they dealt with everyone else! We chose our band, they contacted them, booked them and paid them. We rounded the night off with a hog roast and everyone loved it!
For me, the service was impeccable from first viewing to the last guest leaving. They took all of the stress and worry out of the big day, sorting it out and organising timings. To have a wedding planner included in the price was amazing. I remember leading up to it people kept asking of I was stressed or running around. I kept saying NO!
There’s nothing I could fault – it was the best day ever. I only wish I could do it all again!”
