Perth
Racecourse is situated in what is widely recognised as one of the
most picturesque settings in the country. Within the grounds of
historic Scone Palace the course skirts the banks of the mighty
River Tay and weaves its way past trees that have stood for centuries,
since the time when this was the playground of the Kings and Noblemen
of Scotland. The famous Stone of Destiny was once housed here and
is perhaps shortly to be returned after seven centuries absence.
Perth
has excellent transport communications, being only 3 miles from
the national motorway network, 40 minutes from Edinburgh airport
and having its own main line railway station. There is a regular
raceday bus service from central Perth (Mill Street) to the course.
Helicopter landing facilities are available on the course and private
aircraft may land at nearby Scone Airfield, by prior arrangement
with the Racecourse.
Edinburgh,
Dundee and Glasgow are all within an hours travelling distance and
our many patrons from Aberdeen can be with us in under two.
Vehicular
access to the course has been improved in recent years with special
traffic management arrangements in place on race days to ensure
easy arrival and departure.
We
look forward to welcoming you to Perth Races for the 2004 season.
