PERTH RACECOURSE WINS AWARD FOR
"THE BEST SMALL RACECOURSE IN SCOTLAND AND THE NORTH EAST 2002"

The Racegoers Club have recently announced that their members have voted Perth Racecourse The "Best Small Racecourse in Scotland and the North East", in their Racecourse of the year awards 2002. This is not the first time that Perth have won this award, but it is a welcome accolade to round off a very successful season at the Scone Palace Park course. John Paine from the Racegoers Club said "Our members are the heart of the business, they are all keen racegoers and enjoy the racing at Perth". The Racegoers Club is run by the Racecourse Association, the trade organisation representing the 59 racecourses in Britain.

Sam Morshead General Manager said "This is great news and a smashing reward for our enthusiastic team. Our aim is to make a day at Perth Races both fun for the family, rewarding for our Corporate clients and sponsors and exciting for both new and dedicated racegoers. We are aiming for our biggest prizemoney increase ever next season which should make it a very special 2003 at Perth Races."

Julie Manners, Marketing Manager said "It is a great honour to receive this award from the Racegoers Club, as it is the ultimate vote of confidence from keen racegoers who look forward to their days racing at Perth. I am delighted that they continue to enjoy and commend the racing that Perth hosts."

The 2002 season witnessed record crowds at the racecourse in April, for the ever popular three day Perth Festival meeting. The City of Perth Gold Cup day, held in August also attracted over 10,500 people. Due to Perth's recent success The British Horseracing Board have awarded two new days racing for the 2003 season. The new dates are Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd July, the same week as the Game Conservancy Scottish Fair, which will be a tremendous boost to the local economy. This brings the total to thirteen days racing for the 2003 season at Perth.
