EPSOM DERBY (EVE) SATURDAY 5th JUNE &
TENNENT'S VELVET CITY OF PERTH GOLD CUP DAY
AT PERTH RACECOURSE SUNDAY 6th JUNE 2004

Perth Racecourse is getting ready for it's busiest weekend on record, with a Saturday evening on the 5th June and Sunday family day on the 6th June. The gates will open at 2.00pm on the 5th with the opportunity to watch the Epsom Derby live on the Big Screen at approx 4.20pm. This year's main race on the 5th will be the Langvale Homes Handicap Steeple Chase. Langvale Homes currently have three property developments in Perthshire, their Sales Director Marion Hawksby said "by sponsoring a race we can combine supporting National Hunt racing in Scotland in conjunction with a wonderful opportunity to promote our business and developments to the local community. Having sponsored a race last year, it was a natural step to sponsoring the meet on the 5th June, all our guests had a great day last year and we are hoping this year will be as good if not better".

Perth Racecourse will hold it's annual big family meeting on Sunday 6th June 2004. Over 12,000 people come each year to the Scone Palace Park course to enjoy a great day's racing and a family fun day out. This year the main race is to be the Tennent's Velvet City of Perth Gold Cup, it will be the most valuable race ever run at Perth with £30,000 added. Craig Harkness Brand Manager for Tennent's Velvet said "We are looking forward to continuing our association with racing in Scotland at Perth on Sunday".

There will be a new Ferrari, TVR and Maserati on display on the 6th courtesy of the Glenvarigill Group who are sponsoring at Perth for the first time, so come racing at Perth and see a different kind of horse power up close"

The Tennent's City of Perth Gold Cup day is an event not to be missed, a party atmosphere is the order of the day with additional entertainment such as camel racing (at Perth Races for the first time) & falconry displays prior to racing and children's entertainment such as ferret racing, kids quad bikes, face painting, bouncy castles and much more. The Racecourse welcomes visitors from all over the U.K and Ireland with many new visitors discovering the racing spectacle for the first time. The significant prizemoney ensures that the best of the National Hunt racing fraternity travel up north for this fixture.
