The Dublin based band “The Commitments” from the BAFTA award winning film of the same name are to play live at Perth Racecourse at the launch of their “GIG At Perth Races” on Tuesday evening 1st August 2006. There will be a full evening of racing with the gates opening at 5.00pm, with the first race starting at around 6.30pm followed by the band playing live into the evening from around 9.15pm until approx 10.45pm. Normal Race entry applies at £13 with group discounts available when booking in advance.

The Commitments soundtrack albums 1 & 2 have sold approximately 12,000,000 copies and the band have played over 1,000 gigs to over 3,000,000 people worldwide. Ken McCluskey from the band said today ”As officially “the world’s hardest working band”, The Commitments are always delighted to play new venues, so we’re all excited to be coming to Perth for the very first time for what promises to be a great gig”.
