Perth Racecourse is getting ready for it’s flagship day of the 2006 racing season, the 2006 City of Perth Gold Cup. Perth Racecourse will hold it’s annual big family meeting on Sunday 11th June 2006. Over 12,000 people come each year to the Scone Palace Park course to enjoy a great day’s racing and a family fun day out.
This year the main race is to be the Langvale Homes Charleston Grange City of Perth Gold Cup, it will be the most valuable race ever run at Perth with £30,000 added.

Each house, situated in at least 5 acres of land has it’s own Paddock and stabling along with various other outbuildings, with generous access for a horsebox, so Perth Racecourse provides the perfect public profile opportunity.
The Langvale Homes Charleston Grange Perth Gold Cup day is an event not to be missed, this valuable raceday will be have a very special atmosphere and is shaping up to be the best yet with many other attractions as well as the racing. Due to the new partnership with John Smith’s , the first 1,000 people through the gates on the 11th June will be given a voucher to enjoy a free pint of John Smith’s on the day. There will be a Hobby Horse Grand National prior to racing with children aged ten and under 10 taking part on the course. Any child wanting to take part needs to fill in a sponsorship form from the Perth Racecourse website www.perth-races.co.uk to raise money for The Brooke, who provide vets and education to care for working horses and donkeys in the developing world. Other pre - race entertainment such as falconry displays and ferret racing in the Parade Ring are always popular. Children’s face painting, a creche, bouncy castles and much more can be found in the centre of the course.
The Racecourse welcomes visitors from all over the U.K and Ireland with many new visitors discovering the racing spectacle for the first time. With over 70,000 prizemoney the best of the National Hunt racing fraternity travel up north for this fixture. Sam Morshead The Racecourse Manager adds “ A recent promotion in Ireland appears to be paying dividends with not only our regular Irish Trainers bringing horses over but a number of new names will be visiting for the first time on Gold Cup Day. This shall ensure that not only do we have some very competitive racing but the very best jockeys will be in evidence as well. Gates open at 11.30am on the 11th with the first race at 2.20pm and the last race at 5.20pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance on-line at www.perth-races.co.uk (discounts available for groups of 15 or more) or from the Racecourse Office on 01738 551597, or at the gate on the day. Buses will also be available from Mill Street in Perth leaving for the racecourse at 11.15am 12.00 12.15pm and 12.30pm.
