Perth Racecourse are getting involved in raising money for Sport Relief this Sunday 16th July at the Summer Family Race Meeting. Owen Coyle and some of the players from St Johnstone F.C will also be walking the mile around the Racecourse which will begin at 12.00 midday. To participate in the walk, just come racing and donate between £1 and £5 to Sport Relief. Adult tickets are £13 on the day and children under 16 get in free.
Owen Coyle St Johnstone Manager said “We are delighted that St Johnstone F.C are able to get involved and participate in this worthwhile event.
The more people that get involved to help raise the maximum funds for this great charity the better. We look forward to seeing you all at the races on Sunday”.
Julie Manners, Perth Racecourse Marketing Manager said “This is a great opportunity for everyone to get involved raising money for Sport Relief and make a real difference to the lives of disadvantaged children in the U.K and all over the world. To take part in the 1 mile walk around the Racecourse you can either download a sponsorship form from www.sportrelief.com or contribute between £1 and £5 on the day. Those donating £5 or more on the day will be entered into a prize draw to win some amazing prizes including:
- 6 Grandstands Tickets to see The Commitments at Perth Races on Tuesday (eve) 1st August 2006, plus a signed copy of their C.D.
- £50 of Betting Vouchers donated by The Tote – the main sponsors on the day.
- St Johnstone Football Club Merchandise
With the addition of raising money for Sport Relief through the “walk a mile”, the race day has an added dimension, this is going to be a fantastic day out for the whole family. Pony racing will also follow on from the main racing, showcasing the young jockeys of tomorrow.”
Children will be well catered for with a myriad of additional entertainment, including ferret racing and pipe bands, face painting, and a multitude of children’s entertainment together with a crèche facility in the centre of the course.
The Racecourse Gates will open at 11.30am, with the Sport Relief Walk starting at 12.00 midday. The first race is at 2.10pm and the last race at 5.20pm.
