PERTH ANNOUNCES RECORD RESULTS

Perth Racecourse has announced record breaking figures for the 2006 season of racing. Perth’s total attendance for the twelve day season in 2006 was 54,000, which is 11% up on 2005 when thirteen fixtures were staged. The average daily attendance exceeded 4,500, the best performance by any Scottish racecourse since the introduction of betting shops to the high street in the 1960’s. The Racecourse also entertained over 5,538 corporate guests in private facilities, the busiest year on record. 2007”.

Commercial Manager for the Tote Steve Knight commented “Perth seem to be bucking the U.K trend for Totepool. The U.K market is static where Perth has grown. The couriers in the Galileo Restaurant have given a new dimension to Perth Racecourse and pre-ordered betting vouchers have also been extremely popular”. A record numbers of companies decided to enhance their profile by sponsoring a race and many new sponsors were attracted by the significant media profile and advertising opportunities that Perth Racecourse present. 2007”.

David Ashforth from The Racing Post dubbed Perth Racecourse “A little piece of heaven” and gave the course 41 points out of 50 in his review, ranking Perth currently in fourth place, one point below Ascot in third in the review of the 59 U.K Racecourses. 2007”.

Julie Manners Marketing Manager commented “The 2006 racing season has been a great achievement for Perth, attracting record levels of sponsorship and business from the length and breadth of the U.K, as well as new local racegoers. Hospitality Bookings are already being taken for the 2007 season, which begins with the popular three day Perth Festival from the 25th – 27th April”. 2007”.

Sam Morshead General Manager said “We now have a busy winter ahead and along with a growing number of conferences, banquets and our Christmas Parties, we are planning some improvements for our growing number of racegoers. We are looking at options to move our main entrance to a more central position providing better immediate access to all our facilities. This would allow us to open up more space around our Parade Ring with the possible addition of a new Bar on the Parade Ring lawn. While we have had a good season there will always be areas were we can improve the racing experience for our customers and we all very much hope to be able to continue our upward trend in 2007”.
