Gold Chain sparkles for Penrith yard at Perth
Gold Chain (11-4), trained at Penrith by Dianne Sayer, won for the second time at Perth’s two-day June fixture with a sparkling victory on Thursday.
Ridden by her 24-year-old daughter Emma, Gold Chain captured the Scone Palace 50th Anniversary Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle in great style for East Lothian owner Margaret Coppola.
“She has found a new lease of life and just loves it at Perth,” said the elated winning jockey after Gold Chain repeated her Wednesday success in a first-time hood.
Perth’s top trainer, Gordon Elliott, enjoyed two winners with Faraway Mountain (4-1), ridden by champion jockey Richard Johnson, and Le Grand Chene (7-2 jt fav), ridden by Henry Brooke, scoring for the all-conquering Irish-based Elliott.
Brooke also won on impressive 5-1 winner Wyfield Rose for Hawick trainer Alistair Whillans, scoring unchallenged by 17 lengths.
