Cracking Destiny calling now for Alistair Whillans at Perth
BORDERS raider Cracking Destiny shoulders top-weight in the £12,200 Heidsieck Monopole Party Goes On Handicap Chase over 2m 4f at Perth on Wednesday afternoon.
Trained at Hawick by Alistair Whillans, he was runner-up over course and distance 17 days ago following a three-month break.
Whillans said: “He doesn’t want the ground to go too soft but his form at the track is pretty good. He beat a reliable yardstick of Nicky Richards’ last back-end by over nine-lengths and his mark is now just a pound higher.
“He was second last time at Perth and has come out of the race pretty well. There are also other options for him later in the summer and at the September meeting.”
Cracking Destiny, formerly trained by Ian Williams, changed hands at the 2019 sales for £35,000 and his old handler is represented by Solar Impulse, who looked sure to be on his way to completing a hat-trick when falling the last at Market Rasen earlier this month.
Gloucestershire trainer Sophie Leech has only recorded one previous winner at Perth and she runs a fascinating contender in On Your Mark, a four-year-old with winning form over hurdles and fences in France who is making his debut for his new trainer.
It’s the second day of a restricted capacity meeting at Perth before crowds increase significantly for Summer Carnival on Saturday, August 14.
The first of seven races is at 1.25pm – all live on Racing TV.
