Perth Racecourse serves up special locally-sourced menu to get taste buds racing
Perth Racecourse’s award-winning catering team, Heritage Portfolio, will serve up a unique menu at Autumn Raceday this Monday with all key ingredients sourced from within 25 miles of the stunning Scone track.
Created by executive development chef Brian Canale, the exclusive menu is a celebration of the finest foods of the region and will be available for all Hospitality and Galileo restaurant guests. Offering a tantalising taste of Perthshire, dishes from the area include delicious smoked salmon and braised shin of beef as well as local cheeses from Strathearn.
The UK’s northernmost racecourse is now on the home straight of its 2019 racing calendar with planning and preparation gathering pace. Autumn Raceday will provide the setting for the Racehorse Owners Association (ROA) annual industry day and the popular two-day Glorious Finale (September 25 & 26) will bring an end to another fantastic season.
Brian said: "We pride ourselves on sourcing the very best seasonal and local produce, of which there is an abundance in Perthshire. Working on this exclusive menu has been a joy for us, the flavour combinations really challenge our guests’ taste buds and complement each other perfectly.
“We always try our best to source raspberries from the Blairgowrie estates – and the classic flavour of Drambuie alongside the heather honey cream really show off and celebrate the flavours of true Scottish produce. We hope all our guests have a memorable day both at trackside and table."
Hazel Peplinski, Perth Racecourse chief executive, added: “We’re proud of our position as the UK’s most northerly racecourse and, as our recent impact report tells us, we know that our events have a positive knock-on effect on the local economy of the area. Rural Perthshire is looking simply stunning during harvest time and it is great fun for us to be celebrating the many talented producers who supply such a fantastic range of fresh produce right on our doorstep.
“Not only will we be serving up a culinary adventure for our guests, but also a valuable seven-race card which has attracted some intriguing entries and promises a superb afternoon of sport.”
ROA will be bringing the racing industry together on Autumn Raceday to celebrate racehorse ownership as well as sponsor five races, including a jackpot for ROA owners. Perth Racecourse supports the ROA in promoting the thrill of racehorse ownership.
