Life as a racehorse owner will be the theme at Perth this Saturday in the only Scottish leg of the new ‘Ownership Day’ series from In The Paddock, which is visiting seven iconic UK tracks this summer.

Perth Racecourse’s first Saturday fixture of the season has been billed as a favourite for families, football-starved fans and first-time racegoers alike who will be treated to a bumper day of action both on and off the track. In addition to a thrilling seven-race card featuring top talent from across the landscape of UK and Irish racing, spectators will experience an enhanced array of activities which will keep themselves – and their children – entertained between the races.

Offering a fun-filled day for racegoers of all ages, attendees can choose to immerse themselves within the family-friendly atmosphere of the Picnic Enclosure, or soak up the views from the first-class vantage point of the Grandstand. From there, they can gain a glimpse into what it takes to own a racehorse as part of In The Paddock Ownership Day, which was created after a 2021 survey found that 65% of those not currently involved in shared ownership would be interested in pursuing it in the next 18 months.

Three syndicate groups will be parading their horses at 12.30pm in the Parade Ring while there will also be Virtual Reality headsets for racegoers to have a bit of fun with in trying out “the owner experience”. A great chance for people to come along and learn more about racehorse ownership, the VR opportunity will be available at the Ownership Zone by the Parade Ring all day.

Matthew Taylor, Racing Manager at Perth Racecourse, said: “Preparations are going well for Perth’s first Saturday fixture of the season. The going – at the time of writing – is Good and we will be looking to maintain conditions. Sadly, we aren’t getting the heatwave from down south, although that does make the job a little easier. We have great support from local and travelling trainers and are looking forward to a great day’s racing.”
