Perth Racecourse continues a fantastic summer of Scottish sport with two race meetings next midweek, including a nod to another major event coming to Perthshire in early Autumn.

The Scone track hosts back-to-back fixtures and a whopping 14 competitive races inside just 24 hours at its Race Evening on Tuesday, 30 July and Afternoon Raceday on Wednesday, 31 July.

There is free entry for under-18s (accompanied by adult) at both meetings and those attending on Wednesday afternoon can get up close and personal with golf’s Solheim Cup, which will be on site to celebrate the biggest event in women’s golf being staged at nearby Gleneagles this September. Racegoers can enjoy a selfie with the famous trophy and will also be able to benefit from exclusive ticket offers for the biennial Europe v USA event being held just 23 miles down the road from September 9 to 15.

Hazel Peplinski, Perth Racecourse Chief Executive, said: “This crazy summer of fantastic sport at the highest level just goes on and on. It is a brilliant time just now for golf fans especially after Shane Lowry’s fabulous Open win and the Solheim Cup coming to Perthshire very soon. We are all sports mad at the racecourse and have had plenty banter on the tennis, football, even the cricket as well as our own fabulous season of summer jumping. Entries look very promising for next week’s double-header and the recent rainfall has done the track the world of good assisting its recovery from a busy season.

“We are all very excited to welcome representatives of the Solheim Cup here on Wednesday in a collaboration which shall celebrate two supreme sports and the positivity they bring to Perthshire. I can’t wait for the Solheim Cup at Gleneagles in September as I am golf mad and watching the top women is much more relatable than what we saw at Portrush last weekend.  Whilst our two-day meeting is relatively low key compared to our weekend fixtures the quality shall still be amongst the best National Hunt racing at this time of year and we are honoured to have this link to such a prestigious event as the Solheim Cup. Be assured I shall not miss the opportunity to have my selfie taken with the trophy!”

Paul Bush, Director of Events at VisitScotland, said: “We are excited about showcasing the 2019 Solheim Cup to another energetic and knowledgeable crowd at Perth Racecourse. It is another example of sports working together to celebrate a world-class event taking centre stage in Scotland, and the Perthshire community have been hugely engaged since we announced the 2019 Solheim Cup will take place in iconic Gleneagles. We are grateful to Hazel Peplinski and the team at Perth Racecourse for opening their doors and sharing the excitement of the Solheim Cup with the racegoers and look forward to an excellent day of racing.”

After Tuesday and Wednesday’s meetings, Perth hosts its annual Summer Carnival on Saturday, 17 August which is already closing in on another sell-out – so racegoers are advised to purchase remaining tickets now to avoid disappointment.
