Perth Thanks 10,000 Racegoers After Stunning Summer Carnival
-Brian Hughes, Eleanor Tomlinson and Judge Jules LIVE steal the show at Scone’s sold-out Saturday-
The management team at Perth Racecourse would like to say a massive thank-you to Saturday’s capacity crowd for making the Scone venue’s annual Summer Carnival such a memorable occasion.
Despite the many challenges presented by adverse weather and heavy rainfall prior to Saturday, some 10,000 racegoers enjoyed a full card of racing and a carnival atmosphere, helped by a sensational live dance music set on stage by Judge Jules LIVE.
Perth endured a deluge of rain for most of the week running up to Summer Carnival, then had to survive a precautionary inspection on Saturday morning, making Saturday’s success all the more enjoyable for staff and racegoers alike.
Hazel Peplinski, Perth Racecourse Chief Executive, said: “It really did feel like something special took place at Perth Racecourse on Saturday. We would never compromise safety for runners or riders, nor did we want to disappoint all those who had bought tickets from having their annual Carnival raceday. There was quite a lot at stake so we were very fortunate that the racecourse missed many of the local thundery showers. It was touch and go and made for a rollercoaster of a week for those responsible for the racing surface.
“Once we were able to pass the track fit to race first thing the carnival atmosphere really kicked in. From Brian Hughes’ hat-trick of winners and Poldark actress Eleanor Tomlinson providing some x-factor presenting the Stone of Destiny trophy, to Judge Jules LIVE bringing the house down after racing, it was truly a day to treasure.
“We are very grateful to all who supported the event, as the most northern outpost, Perth Racecourse enjoys fabulous goodwill from the industry in the shape of Owners, Trainers and Jockeys who understood the significance of this day in our calendar. Operationally we delivered a superb event which would all be for nothing without the 10,000 racegoers who make the Summer Carnival what it is – one big party.”
There were many racing fans who were unable to secure tickets so the executive advise putting Saturday 15th August 2020 in the diary now and to look out for tickets going on sale in October.
Next up at Perth is Autumn Raceday on Monday, 9 September, before the two-day Glorious Finale on 25-26 September.
