Hallowed turf is being trimmed whilst fences are freshly coated with paint as Perth Racecourse prepares to welcome racegoers back to a full calendar of fixtures for the first time since 2019 – but pre-season preparations will be temporarily placed on pause at 5.15pm on Saturday as attention turns to the world’s most famous horse race, the Grand National at Aintree.

Whether you’re a racing novice or high-stakes stallion, you’re likely on the lookout for insight into the contenders for the Randox Grand National 2022 title. With luck on your side, the team at Perth Racecourse, jockeyed by Chief Executive Hazel Peplinski, are here to offer their expert advice and tips ahead of Saturday’s big race.

Hazel said: “This is a brilliant weekend of sport for all racing and golf fans alike and my teams deserve some down time before the last push over Easter building up towards our own festival starting on 20th April. Come that day and the start of our season we shall have watched spectacular racing from Cheltenham, Ayr and of course Aintree with the Grand National.

“Our own William Hill Perth Festival is Perth’s highest quality racing of the year and shall be a tremendous way to celebrate the start of our 2022 campaign. At this stage we are completing preparations, busy with official safety inspections and various staff briefings. There is a buzz about the place due to the anticipated return of spectators to the festival for the first time since 2019. The track is in very good shape which is key so we are excited to be offering racegoers a three day feast of thrilling sport.”
