Mike Smith’s great run continued when Just Dottie extended her love affair with Perth in the Edinburgh Gin Seaside Handicap Hurdle.
A well-backed 2/1 favourite, she was ridden by Sean Bowen as she recorded her fourth course and distance success by a length from Mack The Man.
“She loves it here and hasn’t won anywhere else,” Smith said. “My son Ben said to get Sean, as he’s the best, and this place just suits her being level and easy so she’s never too stressed.”
Bowen completed a double on Olly Murphy-trained Stumps Or Slips in the Edinburgh Cannonball Handicap Chase.
Whistleinthedark, trained by Laura Morgan, was an impressive 20-length winner under Harry Reed of the DM Hall Surveyors Handicap Chase.
“He wanted to go a stride quicker so I sent him on with a circuit to go,” Reed said. “He stays well and got into a really good rhythm so he was always going to take some catching. Laura has her horses in great form and she and the team have done a really good job with him.”
Go Go Chicago reeled in long-time leader Park Annonciade late on to land the Edinburgh Gin Hurdle by a head in the hands of Jamie Hamilton.
“He likes this type of ground so I think we’ll keep him going through the summer,” said winning trainer Ruth Jefferson. “I’m sure if he stayed three miles on his only other run in a handicap although he was quiet the next day so we’re still not sure.”
