The Last Cloud is set for a chasing campaign after completing a hat-trick over timber in the Auto Services Perth Commercials Handicap Hurdle.
Ridden by Brian Hughes, and trained by Patrick Neville, he was sent off the 10/11 favourite before seeing off Pure Gold by two-lengths.
“I’d say the next time you see him will be back here over fences later in the month,” Neville said. “Chasing will be his game and his schooling at home has been excellent.”
Sean Bowen and Gordon Elliott were in great form and they teamed up to land the first two races with Chortal and Lightkeeper.
Chortal pulled nearly four-lengths clear of City Of Diamonds in the Auto Services Perth 24 Hour Recovery Novices’ Hurdle with Lightkeeper taking the Auto Services Perth Supporting Dundee Bairns Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase.
James Bowen-ridden Easy Bucks, returning from a 415-day absence, was the winner of the Auto Services Volkswagen Commercials Aftersales Handicap Chase.
“He always goes well fresh but he has had small issues with his tendons,” winning trainer Mickey Bowen reported. “He also likes it here so hopefully we’ll be back again with him before the end of Perth’s season.”
Lucinda Russell and Michael Scudamore recorded their first jumps success together when well-backed 9/4 favourite Spit Spot romped away with the ASP Fiat And Vauxhall Commercial Aftersales Handicap Hurdle in the hands of Patrick Wadge.

The Bowen brothers took centre stage at Perth on Thursday when they produced a dead-heat for the second time in their careers. With Sean aboard American Mike and James riding Statuario, they were inseparable as the flashed across the line in the Join Racing TV Now Handicap Chase. Sean said: “We also dead-heated at Cheltenham in December, 2024 in a hurdle race and I might have won this one if James hadn’t knocked my whip out of my hand!”
