Replica of Scotland’s iconic Stone of Destiny to take centre stage as trophy for £25,000 feature race – with Grandstand Enclosure already sold out
Perth Racecourse is preparing for one of the highlights of its summer racing calendar as Stone of Destiny Raceday returns on Saturday 15 August, bringing together competitive National Hunt racing, Scottish heritage, live music and a packed Perth crowd.
With the Grandstand Enclosure now completely SOLD OUT, racegoers hoping to be part of the occasion are being encouraged to secure the remaining tickets for the Picnic Enclosure and pack a picnic for a very special summer Saturday at Perth.
At the heart of the afternoon will be the 4.05pm The Scone Estates Stone Of Destiny Handicap Hurdle Race (CLASS 2) (GBB RACE), a £25,000 contest staged over approximately two miles.
In a fitting connection between racing and Scottish history, the winning connections will receive a remarkable trophy, an actual replica of the Stone of Destiny itself.
The replica will provide a spectacular centrepiece to the feature race and a unique prize befitting a raceday which celebrates one of the most famous and significant symbols in Scotland’s history.
PACK A PICNIC FOR STONE OF DESTINY RACEDAY
With the Grandstand Enclosure sold out, the Picnic Enclosure is now the place to be for anyone still looking to join the Stone of Destiny Raceday celebrations.
Racegoers can pack their own picnic, bring along a picnic blanket and drive – or walk – into the Picnic Enclosure before settling in for an afternoon of outstanding summer jump racing and the famous big-raceday Perth atmosphere.
It offers a wonderfully different way to experience a day at the races: good food, good company and competitive racing in the spectacular surroundings of Scone Palace Park.
The Stone of Destiny Raceday features seven competitive National Hunt races and more than £86,000 in total prize money, with leading trainers, jockeys and horses expected to compete across the afternoon.
And the entertainment will continue away from the track.
Back by popular demand, the fantastic Shaka Loves You will bring live music to The Barn, adding to the party atmosphere at one of Perth Racecourse’s most anticipated fixtures of the season.
Stone of Destiny Raceday celebrates the return of the Stone of Destiny to Scotland and the extraordinary history and heritage associated with Perthshire and Scone, while combining it with everything racegoers love about a summer afternoon at Perth.
Grandstand Enclosure tickets are now SOLD OUT, with Picnic Enclosure tickets remaining available. Racegoers are encouraged to book as soon as possible to avoid missing out.
