Twiston-Davies Team Target Glorious Finale Success

The Twiston-Davies team will be hoping to add another chapter to their impressive Perth record when the curtain comes down on the 2026 season at the Glorious Finale.

Now operating as a joint-training partnership between Nigel Twiston-Davies and his son Willy, the Gloucestershire stable sends Spectacularsunrise and Chief Sunday north for the final action of the year at the Scone Palace track.

The Twiston-Davies name has long been associated with success at Perth and the stable has enjoyed some memorable moments at the historic two-day Glorious Finale over the years.

Spectacularsunrise makes his chasing debut in the Christmas Party Nights At Perth Racecourse Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase, with Sam Twiston-Davies taking the ride.

The five-year-old carries the familiar red and pink colours of owner Geoff Bruce, a valued race sponsor and supporter at Perth, who will be hoping to see his colours in the winner’s enclosure at his local track.

It is a race with particularly happy memories for the Twiston-Davies team. Before becoming a handicap, the stable landed the contest with subsequent Grand National hero Bindaree, while the talented Fundamentalist also features on their roll of honour.

Sam Twiston-Davies is also aboard stablemate Chief Sunday in the concluding A Place For You Here Handicap Hurdle – the race that will officially bring Perth’s 2026 season to a close.

Running in the colours of the Options O Syndicate, Chief Sunday boasts an encouraging jumping pedigree and will be looking to ensure the Twiston-Davies team finishes another Perth campaign on a high.

There is plenty of competition elsewhere on the card, including a sizeable field for the Edinburgh Gin Owner Trainer Jockey Awards Handicap Hurdle.

Lord Accord could be one to keep an eye on for Scottish owner Lynn Maclennan, who recently enjoyed success in France with exciting prospect Metronomique.

Thursday’s card brings the curtain down on not only the two-day Glorious Finale but the entire 2026 Perth racing season. The historic meeting, which can trace its origins back to racing on Perth’s South Inch in 1613, has provided a fitting finale to the summer jumps campaign for generations.

With another competitive card bringing together runners, trainers, jockeys and owners from across Britain, there should be plenty still to play for before the final horse crosses the line at Scone Palace Park and Perth Racecourse bids farewell to racing for another year.
